Yes, if you are prepared and you know your topic, it can get easier. In saying that presenting isn't for everyone, but something we should all try at least once, or twice... I know after the third time it does get better.
I still get nervous before a webinar, my speech goes from fast to slow, and my voice starts off quiet and then it gets louder and eventually evens out.
Here are some tips for your presentations to flow smoother.
Create a related handout – a printed version of your presentation (with presenter notes, of course) will work, but for more WOW! factor, consider creating a related, but different printable for your audience to take home.
Kick-off your Q & A session right – with a pre-chosen Frequently Asked Questions. It helps set the tone for the end of your event and breaks the ice so attendees will have the confidence to speak up.
Be enthusiastic – Your normal speaking voice is likely not passionate enough to convey your enthusiasm (especially on a webinar), so practice your excited tone before going live.
Dig deeper – Sprinkle in at least a few “ah-ha†moments so your audience walks away feeling their time was well spent.
Open with a story – Stories create instant engagement and connection with your audience.
Turn your presentation into a webpage – So your audience can watch it again to catch anything they missed.
Break the rules!
Sometimes it makes sense to do your own thing, so go ahead and toss out all the “must have’s†and “do not’s†and forge your own path.
