We talked to Cafe2U franchisees across the country and asked a very important question: Â
What's your advice to someone considering owning their own business? Here are just some of the things they said:
“You'll need a good sense of humorâ€â€™
"Tenacity, never give up what you're doing"
"Make the most of the quiet moments, whether it's seeking out new customers or straightening out your books, every little action counts."
“Can I put these down in bullet points? You have to be organised, you need to be a people person, and you need to be accountable for the work that you do."
“Try to be friendly and likeable, and accept every person as they are. If you approach people that way, then you’ll make a friend."
"Grow your business slowly. If it's healthy - great, but don't jump the gun. Slow and steady wins the race."
"It can be intimidating when you start your business but you can do. It's on task at a time. Don't become overwhelmed by the fact you are running your own company."
"You get out what you put in. Forget the days of leaving a lump sum every fortnight or every month. The amount of work you put in equates to the success of your business."
"When business is booming put money away. There will be lean times and it always pays to have a safety net."
"Opt for something you genuinely enjoy doing every day. If you love what you do, you'll be that much more successful...not to mention happy."
"Take whatever support you can get. Just because you own your own business you don't have to go it alone. Whether it's a network of friends, family or a partner, rely on them to help you through the touch times."
Amongst this great advise, which do you think would work best for you? Do you have your own tips to add to this list? You are welcome to share your thoughts as I would love to hear from you.
