Smart Tips for Getting back HOURS and HOURS

Health & Wellbeing

I want to share with you three smart tips to get you back hours of lost time quickly and simply. The clever women we work with at BaM have three key problems when it comes to juggling their busy work life and their equally busy home life:

1. They don’t have enough time
2. They feel guilty about their work/life choices
3. They worry that they can’t be successful at work and at home

While a general time transformation overhaul is often required to get these busy women back on track, there are some very simple changes they can make to give themselves some immediate relief:

1. Insource - ‘Insourcing’means delegating the tasks around your place that your kids and husband are capable of managing for themselves.  tidying away their belongings; hanging up their towel; making their bed; putting away their clothes; putting their dirty clothes in the wash and so on. You are a mum and a partner, not a slave.

2. Insource More - there are lots of general jobs around the house that you can divide up between the family, such as feeding the pets; vacuuming; unpacking the dishwasher and putting out the bins.

3. Outsource the jobs around your house that you are prepared to pay someone to do for you.  If you feel guilty about taking this step, remind yourself:
• of the financial cost of doing the task yourself (say, $100 an hour)
• of the financial cost of getting someone else to do this task (say $22 an hour)
• that you can use the time you save to make more money, or spend time with your family, or on yourself
• that the person you outsource to is an expert which mean you will end up with a better result in a faster time that it would take to do yourself.

Kate Christie, a Director at BaM and Time Stylers, works every day with busy women who want to get back hours of quality time. If you would like more information about how to outsource around your home or how you can get back hours a month get in touch!

Insource - a new term but not a new concept. The more people under one roof, the more tasks that can be split. The balance can be outsourced within reason as long as you're not putting off mowing the lawn so yo can go to the gym. Too many full for that one:)

Hi Steven - the more you can get the family to help the better! But nothing wrong with a good session at the gym either!! Kate :)
